Handbag Showdown: YouTube or You Lose. Michael Kors vs. Coach Round 3

By Reana Nibbs
Round 3 let’s begin! The rules are little different for this round. YouTube channels will be judged simply based off of the following:
1.       Content of videos (what type of videos are posted).
2.       What other content is linked to in YouTube videos (any collaborations with other youtubers or companies, what are the keywords used, etc).
3.       How often they post a video and how successful videos are.
Now that you have the rules, time to see who matches up.

Michael Kors
Videos range from runaway videos to ads on their products to behind the scenes of models to the glamour games (a game that Michael Kors made for their YouTube). They also have some videos on their charity watch hunger stop, which are informative and intriguing to watch. Content: 4.

Links to the website for watch hunger stop campaign, MK website and depending on the video, they have links to certain fashion blogs. They may also link where the music is from in the description. They provide more information to look further into each video when it is needed. Links: 3.5.

Posts often at least once or twice a week. Views can range anywhere between 1,000 to 4 million depending on the popularity of the video.  They have a small number of followers compared to their other social media with 44k on YouTube. Success: 4.5. It’s not perfect but because some recent videos have gotten a million views they get a high score.

Overall: 12.

Coach
Their videos range from runway shows to advertisements on their handbags. Not much else is available, not collaborations are done, nothing to make their YouTube channel truly unique. Content: 2.

Only provide links to their website, not much else is featured in the description box. Coach just provides more detail on what is in the video in the description box. Links: 1.

Coach posts about once a month. Although their videos seem to get a lot of attention with as little as 2,000 to 4 million views. They have more followers on YouTube than Michael Kors does with 51k. Success: 5 in comparison to Michael Kors.

Overall: 8.

And the winner for is Michael Kors! Sorry Coach but it looks like you lose this battle. Maybe next time for the final round!
